Our History
In Detroit Alfonso Marino opened his first pizza place, Marino’s Pizzeria and Restaurant, where he taught his sons, Sam and John, the art of making pizzas. Two generations later, Alfonso’s grandsons Alfonso (“Al”) and Frank, along with their father Sam, developed a unique and outstanding array of products and services referred to as “Sam’s Sorrento Pizza.” With more than 45 years of experience in the pizza industry, Sam Marino, with the active help of his sons Al and Frank, made Sam’s Sorrento Pizza Restaurants the success they are today.
Over the years our chain has grown and currently stands at 10 locations, including one within Imperial Bowling Lanes. And, for almost 15 summers the S.S. Pizza Boat could be seen sailing on Lake St. Clair providing freshly made pizza along with a full menu to local boaters.
